I just wanted to take a moment to jump in here and apologize to those of you who have experienced technical difficulties while trying to access my site. I have been in touch with Midphase to let them know that we’re all having problems and that it’s severely hampering traffic. Can you tell that I’m not a happy camper? I ask that you bear with me. There is only so much I can do at this time, but I’m trying.
My site isn’t the only place that I am experiencing technical difficulties.
You see, I am a dog person. I love dogs and we always had them when we were growing up. They were the one thing in my life that made me smile.
Now, however, I am married to a man who prefers cats. Cats love me but I do not love them. I have never been in the home of a cat owner that didn’t smell like the house of a cat owner. I do not, under any circumstances, want my home to smell that way.
Still, we’re married. We have children that love both cats and dogs. To say no way to a cat would be wrong on my part. Just like I feel that it would be really crappy of him to say no to a dog.
So he’s said yes to a dog. But not to the Morkie/Malkie that I so desperately want but to a St. Bernard. Yes, you read that correctly; a Saint Bernard. A small horse that will poop like a small horse. And shed. And drool everywhere. Has he not seen Beethoven???
I don’t want a Saint Bernard. Unless I can have a Morkie/Malkie. Which isn’t happening in this lifetime because they happen to have a thousand dollar price tag attached to them.
Just one more thing on the list of things I’d love to have. And no, we’re not talking about the other one. If we do I’ll just cry and contemplate not being with my husband and that just isn’t acceptable.

A morkie/maltie is basically a designer mutt. Why not go to the pound and rescue a pup? There’s thousands of dogs that need good homes. I can see if you want a breed specific (I own a doxie) but if you’re getting a mutt, why not get one that truly needs a home?
I work in Veterinary medicine and can promise you a Saint Bernard is much more work than one can imagine (daily grooming, huge health problems (twisted stomach, joint decease=expensive), not to mention the drool. Haha). Though, I think you already know this.

Honestly.. the best dogs are mutts. I have one and she is the best pup ever! she is some sort of terrier mix and just the best. She was also a rescued shelter dog who was on death row. I can’t believe she ever was! Why not save a life? There are also lots of pure breed rescues out there as well, if you really desire that. But the most important part is getting a dog that truly suits your lifestyle. You do no justice to the dog if you are getting it just because that’s the breed you want. It has to be suited for you as well.

I’m not a cat person either and love dogs, but a St. Bernard? Please tell me your hubby doesn’t want to keep it in the house. I’m echoing earlier sentiments about a shelter dog. I think there are a lot of great animals just waiting for a good home and that second chance.
I also want to say:
I’ve been following your blog and your story for quite a while now and want to say that I never know what to say. I lurk. I want to comment but don’t want to sound contrived.
I worry when you don’t post. I’m not a pray-er usually and have said a lot of prayers for you and your family. I love your musings and look forward to visiting your site daily. I’m rambling, I know, but just wanted you to know that I’ve made myself at home and plan to stay.
